The County Down plantation town of Comber has long been famous for several things: its whiskey (distilled here for generations), its potatoes (the ‘Comber Earlies’ have PGI status), its linen industry, its famous General (Major General Sir Robert Rollo Gillespie) and its Titanic connections - Thomas Andrews Jnr, designer of RMS Titanic, was born and grew up in Comber.  This walking tour explores the town’s earliest history and associations with St Patrick; before weaving through the centuries to consider the people, industries and events which have put this picturesque town on the map.  The guided walk includes delicious coffee and scones in a beautiful Georgian house.
