This exciting new tour visits the ancient Kingdom of Mourne, an area of Ulster often forgotten by tourists but well worth a visit. As we enter ‘kindly Mourne’ at Sru Patrick (Patrick’s stream), we are coming into ‘a place apart’ with its unique and colourful landscape revealing evidence of our pre-history. Passing by Bloody Bridge - gateway to ‘the Brandy Pad’, we make our way to Annalong to visit a wonderful 19th century working watermill; and explore the harbour to learn about a local hero, Francis Rawdon Chesney. Following lunch in Kilkeel and a brief tour around this fascinating town with its vibrant fishing industry and ‘Burke and Hare’ connection, we leave the coast and turn into the foothills of the Mournes to visit Hanna’s Close, a 17th century Scottish clachan before turning towards Greencastle (an Anglo Norman stronghold) and taking a stroll at the peaceful Silent Valley.
